The New Hyde Park Diner, located right on Hillside Avenue, presents itself as a classic American diner with a focus on breakfast and comfort food staples. This spot offers the kind of reliably quick and generous meals that busy locals and travelers passing through appreciate—especially if you’re hopping off the Long Island Expressway looking for a satisfying lunch or breakfast without the wait.

Inside, the diner maintains a clean and tidy environment, reflecting a no-nonsense approach that makes it easy for guests to settle in comfortably. There's a steady flow of diners throughout the day, suggesting it’s a favored neighborhood stop for anything from an early morning coffee boost to a leisurely weekend brunch.

The vibe here is straightforward and welcoming, amplified by attentive staff who manage swift service without rushing the experience. Tables are generally well-kept, which supports a practical, family-friendly atmosphere rather than a trendy hangout. This is a place where the emphasis is clearly on good, solid plates and a warm welcome rather than elaborate decor or novel culinary fads.

Menu highlights like the Challah French Toast served with crispy bacon, spinach and mozzarella omelettes paired with home fries, and hearty cheeseburger options underscore the diner’s comfort-focused mindset. Portion sizes lean generous and prices stay reasonable, making it an easy choice for anyone wanting a full meal without pretense. Coffee here is kept coming—endless cups are practically expected—which adds to the easygoing, “sit as long as you need” kind of feel.

This diner works best for mornings and midday meals, catering well to families, local workers, and travelers who value quick seating and friendly, consistent service. Whether you’re craving homemade onion rings to share or a classic hot turkey dinner, New Hyde Park Diner offers straightforward dishes that pair well with a casual, no-frills dining experience in a familiar suburban setting.

We were in the neighborhood and decided to have breakfast at New Hyde Park Diner. We had a pleasant time at this diner. The service staff was polite, patient, and attentive. The food didn't take very long, and we always had an endless cup of coffee.

We were driving on the Long Island Expressway when we realized it was lunchtime and went in search of a restaurant so we decided to check out the New Hyde Park Diner . This was a brilliant decision since every thing we ate was delicious! Our server was helpful and while I can’t recall the last time I asked for a container, I wanted to take the rest of my tuna melt on pita home with me! I was also impressed that our booth had its own jukebox!

My favorite from here is the breakfast and triple decker chicken salad sandwich with fries and coleslaw. 12/21/25 I ordered the triple chicken salad club/decker. The food looked good, but unfortunately the taste didn’t match the presentation. I ended up taking the bacon off the sandwich because it tasted like it had been sitting out since the morning — there was no real bacon flavor at all. The fries were hard, which was disappointing. On the positive side, the coleslaw was good and the water was fine, but overall the food just wasn’t great this time. It’s unfortunate because this is one of those places that was once known for really good food. Lately, it feels like quality is changing, and not for the better. Hopefully this was just an off day, but this visit didn’t live up to what I’ve come to expect.

One of the best diners i know in queens/ nassau county. From the minute you walk in door there is a host. When you sit down cold ice water is served right away. Wait staff is prompt with taking your order and serving you. They check in on you during your meal. The food is fresh, hot and plenty! Worth the amount you pay. The tables are always clean and not sticky. The best part is no one has any attitude everyone who works here is happy and cheerful... Love this place

Old timey NY style diner. Full menu! Booths have little individual juke boxes. The wait staff is super friendly and attentive. I ordered cheese blintzes, something unavailable in Texas!
